Camp NaNoWriMO

So, as the title suggests, Camp NaNoWriMo. For those of you who haven't heard of NaNoWriMo let me explain. It's a crazy challenge we writers (Not all just the crazy ones) like to partake in. National Novel Writing Month is exactly what it says on the tin. Write a novel in a month. This event takes place in November.

You heard.

1667 words a day. For 30 days. It's possible. It's doable. And it's challenging.

Camp NaNoWriMo is a sister site to NaNoWriMo only it allows you to do the exact same thing, write a novel in a month, but you can choose to partake in one of three different months. April, July or August. Or all three if you're that crazy.
For students wishing to write or be challenged Camp NaNoWriMo is perfect for you as you can track your record on their site. With the variable months to take part in it allows you to be flexible. If you're anything like me you have all of the essays and deadlines in November and April, so the next month for me was July. So yes, I am partaking in this years Camp NaNoWriMo. Yes, I am on target on day 2. I plan to stay on target for the rest of the month.

What's my story about? Well for starters it's a science fiction story set some time in the future. Don't worry everybody's human. Here's the rough summary I have going on:

Two distress signals being sent from just past the asteroid belt. Nobody ventures past the belt.

Captain Charlotte "Charlie" O'Donnell and her crew must take her ship, the Valhalla, and investigate what is beyond the boundary.

A derelict science research station, the Vanguard, and another ship, the Aries. Abandoned. Dark. And both broadcasting a distress signal. And two planets not on any star map in their system.

Something wasn't right.

So yeah. There ya' go. Tomorrow I'll post an excerpt from it. For now, TO WRITING!
